What Is Bio Oil Used For- Scars and Stretch Marks?

What Is Bio Oil Actually Used For?

It is good to understand exactly what bio oil can be used for and that is what I will attempt to explain in this article.  It is basically a specialist skin care oil that has been developed to help improve all of the following skin conditions

  • Scars
  • Stretch Marks
  • Uneven Skin Tone
  • Ageing Skin
  • Dehydrated or Dry Skin
What probably makes it most notable is that it contains the breakthrough ingredient PurCellin Oil.  This particular oil reduces the overall thickness and density of the formula and makes Bio-Oil a product that is easily absorbed into the skin for maximum effect.

Please note that the product states it will help improve the following skin conditions and not that it will remove scars or marks completely.

Bio Oil - Used For Scars

Bio Oil helps to improve the appearance of both new and old scars. Most of the reviews that I have seen would lead me to believe that the bio oil works quicker and better on scars under five years old, but it does seem to have some type of impact on all scars.

The only exception that I could see to this was that for really old acne scars, there seemed to be a split of opinion as it worked well for some and not for others. In many ways there is a logical sense behind this. You can read specifically about the effect on acne scars by clicking here.

Bio Oil Used For Stretch Marks

Again for stretch marks this formulated bio oil helps reduce the possibility of stretch marks forming during pregnancy.  This works very effectively according to the 500-600 reviews I have read.  I have to say I struggled to find a single review that was negative about the effectiveness of bio oil for stretch marks.  It also helps with teenage growth spurts which can often leave skin stretch marks.

Another area where it can help is for someone who experiences rapid weight gain, and as such is liable to the skin stretching. For those who have existing stretch marks, the feedback on the reviews I have read was very good in that bio oil made a significant improvement to older marks from pregnancies in the past.

Some weight lifters also claimed it helped with stretch marks on the tummy and around the armpit area caused by lifting heavy weights. So as you can see there are quite a number of skin stretching conditions where this oil can really help.

Bio Oil Used For Skin Tone Improvement

This is probably an area that may take some explaining but I think it is important to understand what bio oil claims it can do.  On many of the reviews I read there was some negative feedback about the product working on the assistance of skin tone.  The product itself states that bio oil will assist with the improvement of pigmentation marks, blemishes caused by hormonal fluctuations, skin lighteners or excessive exposure to the sun.

Most of the reviews I read stated that it did help with all of the above.  The negative reviews on this product however stated that it didn't work for a whole range of skin conditions.  I always think it is important when reading reviews to understand if the people are actually reviewing what the product claims to do rather than using it for something that the product doesn't claim to work on.

I found any number of these with people stating it didn't work on deep scars, eczema and various other rashes.  The product doesn't claim to do this yet people were stating the product wasn't any good at helping with those.  It is strange when you get this type of feedback as it is not based against the claims of the manufacturers.

Bio Oil Used for Ageing Skin

Based entirely on the reviews bio oil does appear to soften, smooth and help tone older or ageing skin.  It also helps firm and tone either wrinkled or sagging skin on the face and body. There are plenty of reviews that would support this claim although I did find a few who clearly stated that it had little or no impact, but overall the reviews were supportive of this claim.

Bio Oil Used For Dehydrated Skin Or As A Moisturiser

We all know that the skin's natural oils can be removed by factors like the extreme weather, or by water supplies with a high chemical factor.  Skin condition can often be detrimentally impacted by frequent bathing, and the drying effects of central heating and air conditioning systems.

Bio oil claims to replenish the skin with these essential oils.  The reviews I read would support the fact that bio oil is a really excellent softener and moisturiser.  others I have read would claim that bio oil is too greasy to use as a moisturiser, and although many would apply it happily to their bodies, they would not apply it to their faces.

Other Uses of Bio Oil

  1. Daily Skin Care
  2. An Intensive Moisturiser.
  3. An after-sun treatment.
  4. Use as a bath oil.
Mainly Bio oil is used to help improve the look of scars and skin blemishes. Bio oil is also hypo-allergenic and is suitable for all skin types. It contains no preservatives and is claimed to be non-greasy.  I hope you have found this post informative and you now know what baby oil is.
